Clippard YMCA
Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Facility Technicians and Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel service, outside beautification activities such as landscaping maintenance and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. Overview: As part of the YMCA’s commitment to youth development and social responsibility, the Clippard YMCA is proud to partner with Project LIFE at Aiken High School. This volunteer opportunity is designed for high school students with disabilities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a supportive and inclusive environment. Volunteers will assist our facility team in daily operations that ensure our building is safe, welcoming, and clean for all members of our community. Key Responsibilities: Support basic facility cleaning and maintenance tasks (e.g., wiping equipment, restocking supplies, sweeping, organizing spaces). Assist with indoor and outdoor upkeep such as gym, wellness center, lobby, and grounds. Help set up and break down for events or classes. Collaborate with staff and other volunteers to maintain a safe and accessible environment. Participate in job-readiness and soft-skill development opportunities as coordinated with Project LIFE instructors. Represent the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility at all times. Supervision: Volunteers will be directly supported by Clippard YMCA’s facility staff and the Project LIFE coordinator from Aiken High School. Ideal Qualities: Willingness to learn and try new tasks. Ability to follow directions and work independently or with a buddy. Positive attitude and commitment to helping others. Interest in building vocational skills in a professional setting. Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling during school hours, to be coordinated between Aiken High School and Clippard YMCA staff. Benefits: Gain real-world experience in a professional workplace.
