Gardening Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place for members and butterflies. We are looking for volunteers to help with the Butterfly Garden located on the YMCA grounds. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and the garden needs which may include planning, planting, weeding, watering and other light general maintenance. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, looking for the opportunity to roll up their sleeves, and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. Would you like to make a positive impact in the life of a child? Volunteers are needed to provide extra support to children and students in the childcare and after school programs at Blue Ash YMCA and Rising Stars- Vine. Under the guidance of trained Y Staff, volunteers can assist with homework help, arts and crafts, playing games and generally helping the children, preschool to sixth grade, to make learning and living fun. Volunteer opportunities are available at various sites and can be selected based on the volunteer's preferred location and availability. Do you love soccer? Want to help kids, ages 3-12, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our spring soccer program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of soccer, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from March 31st-May 17th. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-10 will practice and play on Saturday mornings, they will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 11-22 will play TWO times a week: They will practice one hour on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Special Events are offered throughout the year at the Blue Ash Y and volunteers are what make them special! We are recruiting members and friends to be a part of a dynamic team that will turn ideas into something amazing! When a volunteer opportunity arises, an email will be sent to all who are interested. Opportunities will vary and if you see one that interests you, you will just need to email back and let the Y staff know. A special event volunteer may commit to helping as much or as little as you are able. The Blue Ash Dolphins are one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM WILL CONTINUE TO USE TEAM UNIFY for meet sign-ups, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in VolunteerMatters, the Y's online volunteer portal. By creating this account, all volunteers can complete the Y's Volunteer Relationship Agreement & Waiver of Liability and acknowledge the Child Protection Policy & Child Abuse Reporting Procedures. This includes hanging and taking down quilts on display at meeting, delivery of quilts that are turned in, and assisting in tasks that may be specific to leading the meeting. Central Parkway has teamed up with the Freestore Foodbank to help in their marketplace, package food for children, youth, and adults in our community, and to raise awareness about food insecurity in our area. No one should ever go hungry, and the Y is proud to play a part in making food available to our neighbors. This year, volunteers will go to the Liberty Street Market o April 24th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o June 5th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o September 11th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o November 13th from 1 pm-3:30 pm The Freestore Foodbank gives groceries to those in need so that they have one less thing to worry about as they try to make ends meet. Volunteers will help stock shelves, assist customers and provide an extra set of hands to make the work light in the market. On Saturday, April 26th, the Y is sponsoring April Pool's Day, a one-day intensive safety in and around water training day for kids, caregivers, and families. The Y staff will teach basic skills necessary to be safe in and out of the water in preparation for summer activity. Water safety is no joke! Consider registering a child who needs those basic lessons to stay safe today. While children learn about water safety, parents and caregivers will learn basic skills to keep children safe on land. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. Do you love soccer? Want to help kids, ages 3-12, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our spring soccer program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of soccer, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from April 7th through May 31st. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-6 will practice and play on Saturdays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 7-20 will play TWO times a week: They will practice for 45 minutes on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Volunteers will assist the Swim Instructors during their classes. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sharing their passion for aquatics. Seeking volunteers to help with safety around the water by providing an extra sets of arms and eyes in the pool as little ones learn the basics of how to swim. Volunteers also help set up and clean up equipment/pool deck as needed. Volunteers are fully trained and supervised by Swim Instructors at all times and provide assistance as needed. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of swimming with other members and friends. Turn unwanted trash into treasured bedding and seating mats for those in need. Volunteers create plastic bag mats for distribution through Matthew 25 Ministries. Volunteers will flatten plastic bags, cut strips to make plastic yarn (Plarn) and crochet into a full size plastic bag mat for those in need. Volunteers meet at the Colerain Senior Center on Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. weekly. Volunteers bring tools for cutting the plastic bags and their own crochet needles. On Sunday, April 27th, the Y is sponsoring April Pool's Day, a one-day intensive safety in and around water training day for kids, caregivers, and families. The Y staff will teach basic skills necessary to be safe in and out of the water in preparation for summer activity. Water safety is no joke! Consider registering a child who needs those basic lessons to stay safe today. While children learn about water safety, parents and caregivers will learn basic skills to keep children safe on land. Facility volunteers strive to make the Y a welcoming environment as they assist with light cleaning, simple landscaping projects and other beautification projects all year round. We would welcome new people with skills and/or the desire to help refresh and renew our Y so that all people feel welcome in our place. Do you love soccer? Want to help kids, ages 3 -10, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our spring soccer program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of soccer, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from April 7th through June 1st. All Ages 3-10 will have a 30-minute team practice followed by a 30-minute game in the gymnasium one weekday night. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at meets, practices or with special projects. Beginning this fall 2022, we will use this system, VolunteerMatters, to register for ALL volunteer activities instead of Sign Up Genius. ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must create a volunteer account in VolunteerMatters. Do you love soccer? Want to help kids, ages 3-12, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our fall soccer program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of soccer, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from April 1-May 25. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-12 will practice and play on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 13-26 will play TWO times a week: They will practice one hour on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM WILL CONTINUE TO USE TEAM UNIFY for meet sign ups, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in VolunteerMatters, the Y's online volunteer portal. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. On Sunday, April 13th, the Y is sponsoring April Pool's Day, a one-day intensive safety in and around water training day for kids, caregivers, and families. The Y staff will teach basic skills necessary to be safe in and out of the water in preparation for summer activity. Water safety is no joke! Consider registering a child who needs those basic lessons to stay safe today. While children learn about water safety, parents and caregivers will learn basic skills to keep children safe on land. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-10, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from June 10th-July 29th. All teams will have the same practice/game structure. Teams will have a 30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute on their assigned night HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Do you love soccer? Want to help kids, ages 3-12, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our spring soccer program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of soccer, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from April 1st through May 25th There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-6 will play on Saturdays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 7-30 will play TWO times a week: They will practice for 45 minute on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. The R.C. Durr Barracuda Swim Team is one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM will use Team Unify to register for specific events, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in Volunteer Matters, the Y's online volunteer portal. By creating this account, all volunteers are able to complete the Y's Volunteer Relationship Agreement and Waiver of Liability and acknowledge the Child Protection Policy & Child Abuse Reporting Procedures. The Black and Latino Achievers program is nationally know as a college and career readiness program, delivered by the Y, that supports students in setting and reaching higher education and career goals. The Cincinnati BLA program is geared toward first-generation college students and minorities and is delivered through workshops, college tours, Toastmasters, STEM, and more. Our partners and volunteers are by far the biggest assets of Y Achievers. The volunteers provide an invaluable connection between the corporate world and the local community by developing and conducting programming that allows participants to become linked to education, business and industry. When volunteering in a childcare or a school setting, you will be required by the state of Ohio to complete the following through OCCRA.org: a background check, including BCI & FBI fingerprints, a medical form, and child protection and reporting training. Training and other requirements will be provided by the YMCA site. Once you have completed the interview process, you will set up a schedule with staff.
