Gamble-Nippert YMCA

Join us this summer on Saturday, July 11 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a focused day of campus eco-beautification at Gamble Montessori Elementary! Our main goal for the day is a total revival of our school rain garden and managing our local water-flow areas. We will also be clearing and preparing a dedicated space for a future student "Observation Station and Bench" so classrooms can comfortably sit, interact, and learn in this vibrant outdoor ecosystem. By prepping these outdoor campus environments, we are ensuring they are ready for our children and community to interact with upon their return - laying the vital groundwork for student achievement, strong relationships, and a deep sense of belonging. Volunteers can choose from a few key roles: The Rain Garden Rescue Crew: Clearing out overgrowth, weeding, and mulching the existing rain garden bed to set it up for long-term success. The Observation Station Team: Clearing a flat, welcoming path and seating area next to the garden, and placing temporary/pre-assembled seating for future outdoor classroom use. Water-Flow Painting Team: Painting designated drainage hole zones to help visually track campus water ecosystems. Adopt-a-Spot Litter Patrol: A simple perimeter sweep to ensure the outer campus boundaries are clean and welcoming. Specialist Role - Plant Identification Expert (1 Needed): We are looking for one volunteer with plant/botany expertise to audit the garden, identify our thriving species, and help us map out future educational plant identification signage for our new observation area! ***This clean up day is located at Gamble Montessori Elementary: 2700 Felicity Pl, Cincinnati, OH 45211 TO REGISTER: Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the blue Volunteer button next to the volunteer activity that interests you.
