Throughout the year, and especially during the Annual Campaign, we rely on our volunteers to be ambassadors and champions of our mission. This is achieved through sharing our stories, communicating our impact, connecting people to our cause and providing them the opportunity to give back to their community by volunteering and donating. There are so many types of volunteers needed, especially this year! You can sign up to be a virtual fundraiser, make phone calls, or simply help share our stories of impact! The only way the YMCA can continue to transform lives in our community is through philanthropy. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our fall basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from Oct 14th through Dec 7th. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1 and 2 will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 3-24 will meet TWO times a week: They will practice one hour on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. We are looking for someone who will lead each group session, coordinate monthly book discussion and notifications. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Gardening Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place for members and butterflies. We are looking for volunteers to help with the Butterfly Garden located on the YMCA grounds. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and the garden needs which may include planning, planting, weeding, watering and other light general maintenance. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, looking for the opportunity to roll up their sleeves, and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. We are building a committee of friendly people who want to help decorate the lobby for all of the different holidays throughout the year. Help brighten up the lobby and keep it merry and joyful! We are also looking for help organizing our decorating supplies on Tuesday, 4/30 from 12 pm - 2 pm (or however long you can stay!). Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and high touch areas, landscaping activities, and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. Would you like to make a positive impact in the life of a child? Volunteers are needed to provide extra support to children and students in the before and after school programs at Blue Ash YMCA, Gamble Montessori, Dater Montessori, and Rising Stars- Vine. Under the guidance of trained Y Staff, volunteers can assist with homework help, arts and crafts, playing games and generally helping the children, preschool to sixth grade, to make learning and living fun. Volunteer opportunities are available at various sites and can be selected based on the volunteer's preferred location and availability. Special Events are offered throughout the year at the Blue Ash Y and volunteers are what make them special! We are recruiting members and friends to be a part of a dynamic team that will turn ideas into something amazing! When a volunteer opportunity arises, an email will be sent to all who are interested. Opportunities will vary and if you see one that interests you, you will just need to email back and let the Y staff know. A special event volunteer may commit to helping as much or as little as you are able. The Blue Ash Dolphins are one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM WILL CONTINUE TO USE TEAM UNIFY for meet sign-ups, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in VolunteerMatters, the Y's online volunteer portal. By creating this account, all volunteers can complete the Y's Volunteer Relationship Agreement & Waiver of Liability and acknowledge the Child Protection Policy & Child Abuse Reporting Procedures. Bingo Runners are needed to help organize bingo cards, greet all members, call back numbers to the Caller and makes sure all members abide by rules and stipulations. Bingo Callers are responsible for running the games and calling the numbers. A microphone is provided t help project your voice. Comfort Quilters bring comfort to those who utilize Ronald McDonald House Cincinnati as well as other community agencies (St. E NICU, Women’s Crisis Shelter, & more) by creating and sewing quilts. Volunteers are needed to help serve on a leadership team/Steering Committee. This team prepares materials for the monthly meeting and assist set up and tear down of meeting room. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from October 14th-December 7th. There are two different types of teams to coach. Team 1-6 are our younger age groups that just meet on Saturdays then our older age groups will have one practice during the week and game on Saturday! Teams 1-6 will play on Saturdays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 11-16 will play TWO times a week: They will practice for 45 minutes on a weeknight and play their scheduled games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Volunteers use crafting and crocheting skills to create personal items to bring joy to families, babies and children for their home. Projects vary depending on the needs of the Pathway to Home program. Come share your love of crafting and crocheting and bring happiness to a family in need. Volunteers meet at the Colerain Senior Center twice a month on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers may bring their own materials or supplies are provided. Do you have a green thumb or just like to spend time in nature puttering around in the garden? Here is your chance to volunteer in a fun-filled place while helping nature to grow! Volunteers are needed to help organize and maintain the beautiful garden in the center. Tasks include maintaining mulch, flowers, garden stones, yard art, plants and watering the garden. You don't have to be a Master Gardener... just someone with a willing spirit who is ok to roll up your sleeves and get a little dirty. Volunteers will assist the Group EX instructors and trainers during their exercise classes. Volunteers may assist with welcoming the participants, staging equipment, as well as the sanitation and clean up of the exercise space. Volunteers will participate in the classes and may shadow the instructor as they lead the class. They may, if approved by the instructor, assist individual members and demonstrate positions or actions when needed. Turn unwanted trash into treasured bedding and seating mats for those in need. Volunteers create plastic bag mats for distribution through Matthew 25 Ministries. Volunteers will flatten plastic bags, cut strips to make plastic yarn (Plarn) and crochet into a full size plastic bag mat for those in need. Volunteers meet at the Colerain Senior Center on Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. weekly. Volunteers bring tools for cutting the plastic bags and their own crochet needles. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3 -10, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from January 6th through March 1st. All Ages 3-10 will have a 30-minute team practice followed by a 30-minute game in the gymnasium one weekday night. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Bookfair Setup: Saturday, November 23rd, 9am - 11:30am Volunteers will setup the free bookfair for our childcare programs. They will set books out on tables, organize books by topic/theme, and complete a final check of books for sticker/marks. Families welcome to volunteer! The Cincinnati YMCA Synchrogators is a premier synchronized swimming program featuring swimmers from all over the tristate area. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at meets, practices or with special projects. Our Day Campers will be tending our Y vegetable garden this summer with the help of a few Garden Club Volunteers! This spring, we are in need of a crew of volunteers to help clear an patch of land in the back of the Y, build raised beds for their "crop", and help the campers prepare the soil for planting. We will put in a variety of vegetables plants and the campers will have the chance to water and tend to them over the summer season. We can't wait to see what they will harvest from the generosity of our volunteers' work! Join us on December 7th for a fun holi-DAY at the Highland Y! This Event start with a Holiday Youth Gymnastics Showcase at 10:30 in the gym. The gymnasts will have some fun showing off their skills to family and friends. Santa arrives at 11 for selfies with Santa. There will be various stations; cookie decorating, letter writing, crafts, etc. Volunteers are needed from 10:30am - 11am to help with set up, then 11am - 1pm to help with stations. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our fall basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from Oct 14th through Dec 7th. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1 and 2 will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 3-23 will meet TWO times a week: They will practice one hour on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. The Anderson Barracudas are one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM WILL CONTINUE TO USE TEAM UNIFY for meet sign ups, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in VolunteerMatters, the Y's online volunteer portal. College Students may fulfill course credits through preapproved volunteer assignments throughout the school year. College students are assigned to the Music Resource Center for contracted period of times to fulfill college hour and activity assignments. Activities may vary and will be created to meet the passions and interests of the student and the mission of the MRC and YMCA. Dates and times will be determined on a case by case basis. MRC is seeking self motivated, detail oriented current college students, current graduate students, or recent college graduates who are interested in the following areas: * Development and Community Engagement * Audio & Studio Production * Communication & Marketing * Music Instruction MRC is open to our members 2-7 PM, Monday-Friday, and 12-6 PM in the summer. Music Resource Center
Many of our students come to MRC and do their homework and study before they get in the studio and start creating music. Are you interested in donating an hour or two a week to help our students become better students, or do you know someone that might be interested? Academic Tutor Volunteers help out by working with MRC members on their homework and school lessons. Generally, volunteers donate their time at least one day a week, for at least 2-4 hours and schedules may vary depending on the volunteer availability. Our students come from a various different walks of life, and have different musical interests, goals, and skill levels. Volunteers excel at MRC by meeting each individual where he or she is and being open to creating a fun and educational learning experience for teens that makes them want to come back. 95.7 MRC Radio is on the air! MRC is pleased to announce that we have been granted a license from the FCC, creating the only high school radio station in the Tri-State! 95.7 MRC Radio (WVQC-LP) features a playlist comprised entirely of music created by teens in grades 7-12 at the Music Resource Center. Radio volunteers help out with podcast production, creating radio station content for 95.7fm, sweepers, PSA's and shows. Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-10, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from 1/6/2025 through 3/1/2025. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-4 will play on Saturdays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 4-20 will meet TWO times a week: They will practice for 45 minute on a specified weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Volunteers will assist the Swim Instructors during their classes. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sharing their passion for aquatics. Seeking volunteers to help with safety around the water by providing an extra sets of arms and eyes in the pool as little ones learn the basics of how to swim. Volunteers also help set up and clean up equipment/pool deck as needed. Volunteers are fully trained and supervised by Swim Instructors at all times and provide assistance as needed. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of swimming with other members and friends. This position is perfect if you like kids, love the water and want to help others reach their goals of physical fitness. Volunteer hours are flexible and available 5 days a week. HOW TO REGISTER: A. The R.C. Durr Barracuda Swim Team is one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM will use Team Unify to register for specific events, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in Volunteer Matters, the Y's online volunteer portal. By creating this account, all volunteers are able to complete the Y's Volunteer Relationship Agreement and Waiver of Liability and acknowledge the Child Protection Policy & Child Abuse Reporting Procedures. Each program participant receives 2 bags of food that is packed and distributed at the senior center every month. This activity usually occurs on the third Monday of the month. HOW TO REGISTER: A. The Black and Latino Achievers program is nationally know as a college and career readiness program, delivered by the Y, that supports students in setting and reaching higher education and career goals. The Cincinnati BLA program is geared toward first-generation college students and minorities and is delivered through workshops, college tours, Toastmasters, STEM, and more. Our partners and volunteers are by far the biggest assets of Y Achievers. The volunteers provide an invaluable connection between the corporate world and the local community by developing and conducting programming that allows participants to become linked to education, business and industry.
