Gardening Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place for members and butterflies. We are looking for volunteers to help with the Butterfly Garden located on the YMCA grounds. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and the garden needs which may include planning, planting, weeding, watering and other light general maintenance. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, looking for the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and high touch areas, landscaping activities, and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Our Day Campers will be tending our Y vegetable garden this summer with the help of a few Garden Club Volunteers! This spring, we are in need of a crew of volunteers to help clear an patch of land in the back of the Y, build raised beds for their "crop", and help the campers prepare the soil for planting. We will put in a variety of vegetables plants and the campers will have the chance to water and tend to them over the summer season. We can't wait to see what they will harvest from the generosity of our volunteers' work! Volunteers may assist with welcoming the participants, staging equipment, as well as the sanitation and cleanup of the exercise space. Volunteers may, if approved by the instructor, lead routines, assist individual members and demonstrate positions or actions when needed. Volunteers are fully supervised by Y Staff members.
