Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-12, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from 1/6/2025 through 3/1/2025. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-4 will play on Saturdays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 4-20 will meet TWO times a week: They will practice for 45 minute on a specified weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. If you received an invitation to coach and have spoken to Tammy Dunn, Sport Director, scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and select BASKETBALL COACH - TEAM you were assigned and click the blue volunteer button to register. 2. If you have not spoken to a Y Staff member: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button with BASKETBALL COACH- I'M INTERESTED IN COACHING! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule a time to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check, training and logistics of the league. Come out to R.C. Durr Y for a day of spooky fun! We are looking for volunteers to help with our Boo Fest 2025 on October 24. If you are interested in setting up your trunk for Trunk or Treat, please register your car here! Check back for full event volunteers needed. For now, sign up under I'M INTERESTED! Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Facility Technicians and Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, outside beautification activities such as landscaping maintenance and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. HOW TO REGISTER: A. THIS VOLUNTEER PROJECT IS FOR LEADERS' CLUB MEMBERS and ADULT LEADERS ONLY. Leaders' Club youth gain the ability and knowledge to start and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. The leaders-in-training learn about effective communication, group dynamics of leadership, confidence building, and the history of the YMCA. A key element of Leaders' Club is the service the students give to the community. They learn how to to appreciate those who work in community service and learn the importance of serving others. The club teaches effective communication that fosters healthy debate and growth between individuals. The R.C. Durr Barracuda Swim Team is one of the four competitive swim teams in the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. Volunteers assist the team in a variety of capacities at swim meets throughout the season and with special projects and ongoing activities throughout the year. WHILE THE TEAM will use Team Unify to register for specific events, ANYONE who plans to volunteer at the YMCA must also create a volunteer account in Volunteer Matters, the Y's online volunteer portal. By creating this account, all volunteers are able to complete the Y's Volunteer Relationship Agreement and Waiver of Liability and acknowledge the Child Protection Policy & Child Abuse Reporting Procedures.
