Campbell County YMCA

Help us spread holiday cheer to local seniors this season! Volunteers will assist with collecting, organizing, and checking in gifts for our Adopt a Senior program. Santa’s Helpers will make sure every gift is accounted for, matched with the correct recipient, and beautifully packaged in a gift bag with its tag attached. Volunteers may also assist Y staff with loading gifts for delivery. Specific volunteer shifts - such as wrapping parties or gift organization days - will be listed below as they are scheduled. Those who choose to donate a gift for a senior will receive one volunteer credit hour in appreciation of their time, care, and effort in purchasing and delivering their gift. All donation and event volunteers must complete their registration and paperwork in Volunteer Matters before participating. HOW TO REGISTER: Scroll to the bottom of the page. Campbell County YMCA

Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from January 5th through February 28th. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1, 2, and 6 will practice on Mondays for 45 minutes. They will play a game every Saturday morning. Teams 2,4,5 will practice on Wednesdays for 45 minutes. They will play a game every Saturday morning. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. If you received an invitation to coach and have spoken to a Y staff member, scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and select BASKETBALL COACH - TEAM ___ (NUMBER YOU WERE ASSIGNED) and click the blue volunteer button to register. 2. If you have not spoken to a Y Staff member: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button with BASKETBALL COACH- I'M INTERESTED IN COACHING! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule a time to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check, training and logistics of the league. Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Facility Technicians and Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel service, outside beautification activities such as landscaping maintenance and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Group Exercise Volunteers and Class Champions support YMCA instructors in making classes welcoming, energetic, and engaging for all participants. Volunteers assist with greeting and connecting with members, especially those new to class, as well as helping stage or set up equipment, supporting anyone arriving late, and maintaining a clean and safe exercise space. With instructor approval, volunteers may also demonstrate movements, lead routines, or offer one-on-one encouragement during class. This role is perfect for anyone who enjoys fitness, motivating others, and creating a sense of belonging. Volunteers are fully supervised by YMCA staff. The Campbell County YMCA is looking for individuals who love to make the pool a cleaner place by helping tidy things up around the pool. Volunteers will assist the Lifeguards during their shift. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sharing their passion for aquatics and cleanliness. Seeking volunteers to help with safety around the water by providing a helping hand to our hard-working lifeguards. Volunteers also help set up and clean up equipment/pool deck as needed. Volunteers are fully supervised by Lifeguards at all times and provide assistance as needed. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of swimming and cleaning with other members and friends. This position is perfect if you love the water and want to help keep the pool free of debris. Volunteer hours are flexible and available 5 days a week. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Volunteer with the Campbell County YMCA for our Thanksgiving Community Lunch on Friday, November 21st at 1:00 pm in the gymnasium. The YMCA will provide the meat, plates and silverware and members will bring all the rest (via a sign up sheet). We are looking for volunteers to help with the event between 11:45 am - 12:45 pm, to help with set up, and volunteers from 3:00pm - 3:35 pm to help with clean up. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, loving the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements.
