Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our winter basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from January 8th through March 2nd. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1-2 will play on Mondays. They will practice for 30 minutes and then play their game for 30 minutes that same day. Teams 3-15 will play TWO times a week: They will practice one hour on a weeknight and play their games on a Saturday. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. If you received an invitation to coach and have spoken to Joe Geraci, Sports Manager, scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and select BASKETBALL COACH - TEAM ___ (NUMBER YOU WERE ASSIGNED) and click the blue volunteer button to register. 2. If you have not spoken to a Y Staff member: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button with BASKETBALL COACH- I'M INTERESTED IN COACHING! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule a time to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check, training and logistics of the league. Volunteers will assist the Group EX instructors instructors during their fitness classes. Volunteers may assist with greeting new members, help set up equipment for anyone running late, connect/engage with any class participant that may be new to class, assist with EAP, and help motivate others to achieve their goals, build relationships and find a sense of belonging. Volunteers can use the AMPLO texting platform to communicate with class participants and create fun outings/activities/events that can be done as a group outside of the Y. Volunteers may, if approved by the instructor, lead routines, assist individual members and demonstrate positions or actions when needed. Volunteers are fully supervised by Y Staff members. Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Facility Technicians and Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel service, outside beautification activities such as landscaping maintenance and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Northern Kentucky Students are invited to roll up your sleeves for a Day of Service in honor of MKL, Jr. Day at Campbell County YMCA. Volunteers will assist the Y in their mission as we work together to provide a safe, clean and welcoming space for members and our community to strengthen their body, mind, and spirits. Volunteers will be cleaning childcare areas, clearing closets, painting rooms, and even having a little fun on this holiday. Join other NKU students on Saturday, January 18th 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a day of service and help make an impact in our community. Volunteers will assist the Swim Instructors during their classes. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sharing their passion for aquatics. Seeking volunteers to help with safety around the water by providing an extra sets of arms and eyes in the pool as little ones learn the basics of how to swim. Volunteers also help set up and clean up equipment/pool deck as needed. Volunteers are fully trained and supervised by Swim Instructors at all times and provide assistance as needed. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of swimming with other members and friends. This position is perfect if you like kids, love the water and want to help others reach their goals of physical fitness. Volunteer hours are flexible and available 5 days a week. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Y Gardening Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place for members and our neighbors. We are looking for volunteers to help with the Y Garden located on the YMCA grounds. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and the garden needs which may include planning, planting, weeding, watering and other light general maintenance. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, loving the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements.
