Do you love basketball? Want to help kids, ages 3-9, learn to love it too? We have many volunteer opportunities for our fall basketball program. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from October 12th through December 5th. To sign up to coach, select volunteer next to your child's team number! HOW TO REGISTER: 1. If you received an invitation to coach and have spoken to Aly Wilking, Sports Director, scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and select BASKETBALL COACH - TEAM # (whichever team you are assigned) and click the blue volunteer button to register. 2. If you have not spoken to a Y Staff member: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button with BASKETBALL COACH- I'M INTERESTED IN COACHING! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule a time to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check, training and logistics of the league. Coaches are needed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship and to lead their teams in practice and in games. The season will run from January 5th through February 28th. There are two different types of teams to coach: Teams 1, 2, and 6 will practice on Mondays for 45 minutes. They will play a game every Saturday morning. Teams 2,4,5 will practice on Wednesdays for 45 minutes. They will play a game every Saturday morning. HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Campbell County Boo Fest: Friday, October 30th, 6pm - 8:30pm On Friday, October 30th the city of Ft. Thomas and the Campbell County YMCA will be teaming up to offer a night of Halloween Fun. The Y's portion will be at the Mess Hall (801 Cochran Ave) from 6p-8:30p. We will be offering a dj, games, crafts, etc Volunteers needed: Pumpkin Pickup Crew 12pm - 2pm Set up 4:00pm - 6pm Event Volunteer 6pm - 8:30pm Clean up 8:30pm - 10pm TO REGISTER: Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button. Facility Volunteers assist our YMCA Facility Technicians and Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel service, outside beautification activities such as landscaping maintenance and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide positive customer service while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. HOW TO REGISTER: A. A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule an interview to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check and training. B. Campaign Volunteers help strengthen the Y’s Annual Campaign and connect more people to the programs and opportunities it makes possible. There’s more than one way to get involved. What Campaign Volunteers Do: - Thank donors. Call or write to people who have already given. No ask—just gratitude. It’s a simple and meaningful way to get started. - Share the impact. Help others understand what their support makes possible by sharing stories and examples from your Y community. - Spread the word. Share campaign posts, forward an email, or talk about the campaign with people in your community. - Make calls. If you enjoy connecting with people, we’ll provide names, guidance, and support to help you get started. - Make the ask—if you want to. Asking for donations is just one way to help, and it’s completely your choice. You choose how you want to help. You’ll never be assigned a fundraising role you aren’t comfortable with. We’ll Support You Along the Way You won’t be handed a script and expected to figure it out on your own. Group Exercise Volunteers and Class Champions support YMCA instructors in making classes welcoming, energetic, and engaging for all participants. Volunteers assist with greeting and connecting with members, especially those new to class, as well as helping stage or set up equipment, supporting anyone arriving late, and maintaining a clean and safe exercise space. With instructor approval, volunteers may also demonstrate movements, lead routines, or offer one-on-one encouragement during class. This role is perfect for anyone who enjoys fitness, motivating others, and creating a sense of belonging. Volunteers are fully supervised by YMCA staff. Because of the structure of this program, this role is reserved for active YMCA members. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to share their love of the game with YMCA members and friends. This is a great way to stay active, meet new people, and be part of a sport that’s bringing communities together. The Campbell County YMCA is looking for individuals who love to make the pool a cleaner place by helping tidy things up around the pool. Volunteers will assist the Lifeguards during their shift. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sharing their passion for aquatics and cleanliness. Seeking volunteers to help with safety around the water by providing a helping hand to our hard-working lifeguards. Volunteers also help set up and clean up equipment/pool deck as needed. Volunteers are fully supervised by Lifeguards at all times and provide assistance as needed. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of swimming and cleaning with other members and friends. This position is perfect if you love the water and want to help keep the pool free of debris. Volunteer hours are flexible and available 5 days a week. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and the garden needs which may include planning, planting, weeding, watering and other light general maintenance. This role is ideal for those wanting to spend time outside, loving the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and putting their green thumbs to work. It's also a great project to learn about and broaden gardening skills and knowledge. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements.
