Fun with Fitness Group Leaders are vital in advancing the Y’s mission by building community through movement and meaningful social experiences. These volunteers help organize and lead gatherings where members can dance, connect, and have fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment. As a volunteer, you’ll have opportunities to grow your leadership skills, explore your personal passions, and share your energy with others. Each group is centered around shared interests and is guided by a volunteer leader who helps coordinate activities and provides ongoing support. It's a GOOD NEIGHBOR PROJECT! Join members and friends as we GO OUT into the community and MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Central Parkway has teamed up with St. Vincent De Paul to help in their food pantry. We will help stock shelves and, most importantly, help customers shop. We will be there to provide assistance and raise awareness about food insecurity in our area. No one should ever go hungry, and the Y is proud to play a part in making food available to our neighbors. This year, volunteers will go to the St. Vincent De Paul Society Food Pantry on Wednesday, November 12th, from 1 p m to 4:00 pm. St. Vincent De Paul gives groceries to those in need so that they have one less thing to worry about as they try to make ends meet. Volunteers will help stock shelves, assist customers, and provide an extra set of hands to make the work lighter in the market. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to participate, in accordance with SVDP guidelines. ⭐⭐⭐ THIS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO REGISTER WITH sT. VINCENT DE PAUL AND THE YMCA! Hospitality Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include assisting at the welcome center check in activities, sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel and beverage services and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide a positive member experience while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. For this role you are required to participate at least 2 days per week for at least 4 weeks. HOW TO REGISTER: A. First, Schedule an INTERVIEW: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button next to Hospitality Volunteer - I'm Interested in Volunteering! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule an interview to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check and training. B. Then, you will be scheduled a Position AFTER your interview: Once your interview is complete and a Y staff member will assign you to the position, HOLD A POSITION - Hospitality Volunteer- Assigned. Volunteers help bring joy and creativity to our youngest members by reading, playing, and engaging with children ages 8 and under. While parents focus on their own health in the fitness center, volunteers work alongside YMCA staff to ensure kids are safe, cared for, and inspired through fun activities and imaginative play. This role is a meaningful way to support families, spark children’s imaginations, and strengthen our community. Do you have a passion for reading and enjoy sharing with others your thoughts and insights about the books you read? Volunteers are needed to coordinate the monthly Y Book Club. We are looking for someone who will lead each group session, coordinate monthly book discussion and notifications. The Book Club Facilitator will lead engaging and thought-provoking bi-monthly book conversations for members of our community. This volunteer will help cultivate a welcoming space for dialogue, learning, and personal connection through literature. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Join the excitement of the fastest growing sport in America - pickleball! A fun blend of badminton, tennis, and ping pong, pickleball is easy to learn and enjoyable for all ages. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to share their love of the game with YMCA members and friends. Volunteers will help introduce new players to the basics, organize matches, and create a fun, active environment for all participants. This is a great way to stay active, meet new people, and be part of a sport that’s bringing communities together. College Students may fulfill course credits through preapproved volunteer assignments throughout the school year. College students are assigned to the Central Parkway YMCA for contracted period of times to fulfill college hour and activity assignments. Activities may vary and will be created to meet the passions and interests of the student and the mission of the YMCA. Dates and times will be determined on a case by case basis.
