Fun with Fitness Group Leaders are vital in advancing the Y’s mission by building community through movement and meaningful social experiences. These volunteers help organize and lead gatherings where members can dance, connect, and have fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment. As a volunteer, you’ll have opportunities to grow your leadership skills, explore your personal passions, and share your energy with others. Each group is centered around shared interests and is guided by a volunteer leader who helps coordinate activities and provides ongoing support. It's a GOOD NEIGHBOR PROJECT! Thursday, July 24th at CityLink Center! Join members and friends as we GO OUT into the community and MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Central Parkway has partnered with the CityLink Center, where people can come together, surrounded by a single team, and create a plan to overcome poverty and achieve self-sufficiency and hope. Citylink and the Y recognize that life is complex, and by taking a holistic approach, we can help individuals reach their full potential. Together, we're transforming lives and our community. For our first activity, Y volunteers will head to the CityLink Center on Thursday, July 24th to help with their annual Client Celebration. Each year, CityLink Center hosts a dinner to celebrate their clients' journey to self-sufficiency. This is a great opportunity for volunteers tolearn about the work CityLink does in the community and how they celebrate their clients' accomplishments. It will truly be a rewarding evening as we give our time and talents to support an organization that is supporting our neighbors! Volunteer Activity: * We'll help set up the space, welcome guests and clients, serve dinner, and then do a quick cleanup afterwards. Volunteers should bring their biggest smiles and loudest cheers as we come together to celebrate each client that evening. We will have two shifts: 3 pm to 5:30 pm - Setup 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm - Welcome team, dinner servers, and cleanup crew. ⭐⭐⭐ THIS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO REGISTER WITH BOTH the YMCA and CityLink Center! It's a GOOD NEIGHBOR PROJECT! Join members and friends as we GO OUT into the community and MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Central Parkway has teamed up with the Freestore Foodbank to help in their marketplace, package food for children, youth, and adults in our community, and to raise awareness about food insecurity in our area. No one should ever go hungry, and the Y is proud to play a part in making food available to our neighbors. This year, volunteers will go to the Liberty Street Market o April 24th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o June 5th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o September 11th from 1 pm-3:30 pm o November 13th from 1 pm-3:30 pm The Freestore Foodbank gives groceries to those in need so that they have one less thing to worry about as they try to make ends meet. Volunteers will help stock shelves, assist customers and provide an extra set of hands to make the work light in the market. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to volunteer per Freestore Foodbank guidelines. ⭐⭐⭐ THIS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO REGISTER WITH FREESTORE FOODBANK AND THE YMCA! A Y Staff member will contact you with instructions on completing your Freestore Foodbank registration and provide information on going together on the event day. ⭐If you are volunteering on behalf of the YMCA at the Freestore at other times of the year on your own and want to let Central Parkway know of your efforts, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue GENERAL VOLUNTEER button. Hospitality Volunteers assist our YMCA Member Experience Staff in making our YMCA the most welcoming place. We are looking for volunteers to help with the beautification and maintenance of our facility. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks depending on personal interest and Y needs which may include assisting at the welcome center check in activities, sprucing up the lobby and fitness centers, assisting with towel and beverage services and other simple light maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for those wanting to provide a positive member experience while lending a helping hand. It is also designed for community service hour seekers to fulfill school or non-legal requirements. For this role you are required to participate at least 2 days per week for at least 4 weeks. A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule an interview to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check and training. B. Then, you will be scheduled a Position AFTER your interview: Once your interview is complete and a Y staff member will assign you to the position, HOLD A POSITION - Hospitality Volunteer- Assigned. Volunteers work alongside staff to provide a safe, nurturing environment which sparks children's imaginations and inspires fun and creative play while parents are striving to achieve their own goals in the fitness center. Volunteers read, play and spend time with children 8 years old and under while assisting our fantastic Y child care staff. HOW TO REGISTER: A. First, Schedule an INTERVIEW: Scroll down to HOLD A POSITION and click on the blue VOLUNTEER button next to Kids' Club Volunteer - I'm Interested in Volunteering! A member of the Volunteer Staff will reach out to you to schedule an interview to discuss the volunteer role, necessary background check and training. B. Then, you will be scheduled a Position AFTER your interview: Once your interview is complete and you background check is complete, the Y staff will register you for the HOLD A POSITION - Kids' Club Volunteer- Assigned. Do you have a passion for reading and enjoy sharing with others your thoughts and insights about the books you read? Volunteers are needed to coordinate the monthly Y Book Club. We are looking for someone who will lead each group session, coordinate monthly book discussion and notifications. The Book Club Facilitator will lead engaging and thought-provoking bi-monthly book conversations for members of our community. This volunteer will help cultivate a welcoming space for dialogue, learning, and personal connection through literature. HOW TO REGISTER: A. Become a part of the Fastest Growing Sport in America! Combining elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong, pickleball is easy to learn and fun for all ages. The Y is looking for volunteers who would like to share their joy of this fun filled game with other members and friends. Here is your chance to help others learn the game, help organize matches and have fun with fitness! Volunteer hours are flexible and available on Thursdays from 9:45a-12:15p. HOW TO REGISTER: A.
